Actor Vijay Babu – Profile
Vijay Babu is an actor and producer who predominantly works in Malayalam films. He had started his career as a media person in Star India and later he worked in different TV channels. He made his debut in the industry as a child artist from the movie Sooryan. Now he has a film production company titled ‘Friday Film House’ along with his friend Sandra Thomas. He is present in the industry from 2011.
Biography : Vijay Babu was born and brought up in Kollam district, Kerala. He was born to a family with film backgrounds, his father Subhash Chandra Babu was a Malayalam producer who had produced the movie Sooryan while his mother was a homemaker. Vijay did his primary education from a reputed institute near his home. He started her career as a media person in Star India and he was won the best employee award in that channel. Later he had worked in different TV channels such as Asianet, Surya TV etc.
Vijay Babu got married to Smitha and now the couples have a son ‘Bharat’.
Vijay entered in to film industry with the movie Three Kings, in which he presented a guest role, representing channel head. Later he had appeared in many films and started to produce films along with his friend Sandra Thomas, their production company ‘Friday Film House’ has gifted so many hit films.
Vijay made his debut in the industry as a child artist with the Malayalam movie Sooryan,directed by J. Sasikumar and which was released in 1982. Ajayan, Sukumaran, Jalaja and MG Soman were in the lead cast. The film is produced by Vijay’s father Mr. Chandra Babu under the banner of Anjaneya Movies.
Vijay returned back to industry after the gap of 29 years with the movie Three Kings (2011). Jayasurya, Indrajith and Kunchacko Boban were in the lead cast while Vijay presented the role of a channel head. Later he had appeared in the films 22 Female Kottayam, Ayalum Njanum Thammil, No.66 Madras Bus, Honey Bee, Zachariyayude Garbhinikal etc.
Considerably 2013 was a good year for his career, he had committed to five films in that year. He played the lead role in the movies Escape from Uganda, directed by Rajesh Nair. His performance was excellent and got many positive response, but unfortunately the film didn’t perform well at the theaters. He performed a good performance in the movies Philips & The Monkey pen and Bicycle Thieves.
He presented the lead male character in Lal Jose film Nee-Na(2015). Actually the film was based on the life of two girls Neena and Nalini, Deepthi Sati and Ann Augustine were in the lead cast along with Vijay. The film got mixed ratings from the reviewers but it did not make much impact at the box office. Vijay did a great work here and he got positive response from the viewers.
As an actor he had proved his mettle and could conquer the mind of Malayali audience during this time span.
Career as Producer
He started a film production company named ‘Friday Film House‘ along with actress Sandra Thomas. Zachariyayude Garbhinikal was their first film, it got mixed rating from the reviewers. But it could not perform well at the box office. In the same year they had produced the movie Philips and the Monkey Pen. Jayasurya, Sanoop Santhosh, Remya Nambeesan were in the lead cast. The film was a hit in that year.
Friday Film House always supports new filmmakers, most of their films are with new actors/ filmmakers. The films such as Peruchazhi, Aadu Oru Bheekara Jeevi Aanu, Adi Kapyare Kootamani, Mudhugauv, Angamaly Diaries are their notable works.
