Biggest Flop Malayalam movies 2017

2017 is good year to Malayalam film industry, there are about more than 55 films were released in first six months of 2017. Most of them were earned good response from the audience side while few others could not perform well at the box office. Now a days films are promoting through the social media sites or channel programs and thus stars are making big hypes for their films.

The films like 1971: Beyond the Borders was bombed in the box office even though it made a big hype before the release. But Lijo Jose Pelisseri’s film Angamaly Diaries made a big impact at the box office with a group of new face. The concept of the Malayali viewers has changed, they supports good films even if it has no star valued actors.
Here we listed the biggest flop Malayalam films in 2017.

1. God Say

God Say is a comedy drama movie directed by Sherry and Shyju Govindan. Vinay Forrt, Mythili, Joy Mathew, Indrans and Mamukkoya were in the lead cast. It was released on 7th January 2017. The film got mixed reviews from the audience, it narrated a different theme but did not entertain average viewers. The performance of Vinay Forrt was excellent and got many positive response for his acting, Unfortunately it could not perform well at the box office.

2. Fukri

Fukri is the Malayalam comedy movie written and directed by Siddique. Jayasurya, Lal, Siddique are presented pivotal roles while Prayaga Martin and Anu Sithara are the female leads. The Siddique – Lal team naturally heightened the expectation in its peak but the film could not collect much from the Kerala box office. It released on 3rd February 2017, and the viewers rated it very poorly. It collected about 9 Cr up to first three weeks and ended up as big flop.

3. Swayam

Swayam was a feature film based the story of a 10 years old boy, It was written and directed by R. Sarath. Lekshmi Priya Menon, Nimay, Madhu, Nandhu, Anjali George, K.C. Baby were in the lead cast. The film did not get much theaters because it did not included any star valued actors, it started to run on theaters from 17th February 2017. The film had a different theme and also an awareness to Autism. The budget of the film was very low when compared to others but it bombed at the box office.

4. Aaradi

Aaradi was a Malayalam drama movie written and directed by Saji Palamel Sreedharan. Irshad, Hima Shankar, Kochu Preman, Shivaji Guruvayoor and Madhu Vibhakar were in the lead cast. It was released on 17th February 2017, the film portrait a socially relevant issue. But it could not run more days on the theaters and thus became a disaster at the box office.

5. Ayal Jeevichirippund

Ayal Jeevichirippund is a drama movie directed by Vyasan KP. Manikandan R. Achari and Vijay Babu were in the lead roles. It was released on 10th March 2017, the film showed the unexpected things happened in the life of Vijay and Manikandan, both were from different places and meet at Goa. It got mixed rating from the reviewers but did not collect much from the box office.

6. Devayaanam

Devayaanam is a Malayalam film written and directed by Sukesh Roy. Kailash, KPAC Lalitha, Malavika Menon, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Devi Ajith were in the lead roles. It narrated the life of a Widow. It was released on 10th March 2017. It could not perform well at the box office.

7. Samarpanam

Samarpanam is Malayalam crime thriller movie written and directed by K. Gopinathan. P.Balachandran, Indrans, Anil Nedumangad, Renji Panicker and Santhosh Keezhattoor were in the lead cast. It was released on 10th March 2017, the film goes through the problems related to the murder of a girl. It got mixed reviews from the reviewers but bombed at the box office.

8. Alamara

Alamara is the fourth directorial venture of Midhun Manuel Thomas. Sunny Wayne, Aditi Ravi, Aju Varghese, Renji Panicker, Saiju Kurup were in the lead cast. The viewers had high expectation on this film, it was released on 17th March 2017. The reviewers rated this movie very poorly and which affected its collection. It grossed only 3.4 Cr from the Kerala box office and ended up as a big flop.

9. Pareeth Pandari

Pareeth Pandari is a drama movie written and directed by Gafoor Elliyas. It was released on 17th March 2017, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Ansiba Hassan, Sajitha Madathil, Sreenath Bhasi and Tini Tom were in the lead cast. It faced tight compettition from Manju Warrier starer film C/O Saira Banu and Sunny Wayne starer film Alamara. So it could not perform well at the box office even though it got many positive review from the audience side.

10. Dry

Dry is a Malayalam drama movie directed by Vishakh Punna. It was released on 17th March 2017. A group of new faces were in the lead cast, Niroup Gupta produced this low budged film. It did not get enough theaters on the release date and faced the tight competition from Manju Warrier starer film C/O Saira Banu and Sunny Wayne starer film Alamara. So it became a disaster at the box office.

11. Aakashathinum Bhoomikkimidayil

Aakashathinum Bhoomikkimidayil is a Malayalam drama movie directed by Sandeep Ajithkumar. Sandeep made his debut in direction with this film, it released on 17th March 2017. Neena Kurup, Musthafa and Shanavas were in the lead cast. Which could not perform well at the box office.

12. Oru Malayalam Colour Padam

Oru Malayalam Colour Padam is a Malayalam film directed by Ajith Nambiar. A group of new faces were in the lead cast in this movie, it was released on 17th March 2017. It did not sufficient theaters to release and thus became a disaster at the box office.

13. Honey Bee 2

Honey Bee 2 is the sequel part of hit Malayalam film Honey Bee (2013). Jean Paul Lal retained the same cast and crew for this sequel too. Asif Ali, Bhavana, Lal, Sreenivasan, Lena, Seenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Baburaj were in the lead cast. The viewers had high expectation on this film but it could not come as its expectation. It grossed about 4 Cr from Kerala Box office, it could not compete wit hthe film Takeoff, which released on the same day. The most awaited sequel part became a highly disappointed one and became a disaster at the box office.

14. Kambhoji

Kambhoji is a Malayalam thriller movie written and directed by Vinod Manakara. Vineeth, Lakshmi Gopalaswami, Sona Nair, Rachana Narayanan Kutty were handled the lead cast. It bombed at the box office. It was released on 31st March 2017 and could not perform well at the box office.

15. 1971 : Beyond the Borders

Major RaviMohanlal team joined this year for this war drama movie titled 1971: BB. It made a big hype before the release of the movie and released on 7th April 2017. It had a rich set of actors – Arunoday Singh, Allu Sirish, Renji Panicker, Neha Khan, Asha Sarath, Sudheer Karamana etc. It released more than 100 theaters across Kerala, but the reviewers rated this very poorly and which affected the total collection of the film. It grossed only 6.8 Cr from Kerala box office and ended as a big flop.

16. Sathya

Sathya is a Malayalam action thriller film directed by Diphan. Jayaram handled the lead role in this film, it was released on 20th April 2017. Jayaram fans had high expectation on this movie, he came in a different look for this movie. But the movie was really disappointed one, reviewers rated it very negatively and grossed around 90 Lakhs from the box office.

17. Gemini

Gemini is a Malayalam drama movie directed by P.K. Baaburaj. Esther Anil handled the central character in this film, it released on 21st April 2017. Sijoy Varghese, Renji Panicker, Kishore Sathya, Suml Sukhada were handled the other pivotal roles. It got mixed reviews and Esther got many positive response for her performance, but the film could not make much impact at the box office.

18. Careful

Careful is a Malayalam crime thriller movie directed by VK Prakash. Saiju Kurup, Jomol, Sandhya Raju, Vijay Babu and Parvathy Nambiar were in the lead roles. It was released on 26th May 2017, got many positive response from the audience side but unfortunately it became a disaster at the box office.

19. Chicken Kokkachi

Chicken Kokkachi is a Malayalam comedy movie directed by Anuranjan Premji. It started to run on the theaters from 9th June 2017. Dharmajan Bolgatty, Neha Ratnakaran, Nelson, Indrans and Bijukuttan were in the lead roles. Shabin Prabhakaran produced the movie, but it could not make much impact at the box office.

20. Gold Coins

Gold Coins is a Malayalam movie written and directed by pramod G Gopal. The film based on the story of children, it released in the theaters on 9th June. Sunny Wayne, Meera Nandan, Master Vasudev, Master Gopal, Master Abhish were in the lead cast. It could not perform well at the theaters.

21. Ma Chu Ka

Ma chu Ka is a thriller film directed by Jayan vannery. It was a bilingual (Malayalam/Tamil) movie which was released on 9th June 2017. Pasupathy, Janani Iyer and Prathap Pothen were in the lead roles. It got many positive review from the reviewers but it became a disaster at the box office.

22. Vilakkumaram

Vilakkumaram was directed by Vijay Menon. Bhavana, Manoj K Jayan, Suraj Venjaramoodu were in the lead cast, it started to run on the theaters from 16th June. The film could not run more days on the theaters and thus became a disaster.

23. Viswasapoorvam Mansoor

Viswasapoorvam Mansoor is a socio – political drama movie written and directed by P.T. Kunji Muhammed. Roshan Mathew, Prayaga Martin, Asha Sarath and Zareena Wahab were in the lead roles. It faced the competition with the films – Oru Cinemakkaran, Role Models and Avarude Ravukal. So it could not perform well at the box office. It grossed only 25 Lakhs up to the first three weeks and ended as a big flop.

24. Pretham Undu Sookshikkuka

Pretham Undu Sookshikkuka is a Malayalam comedy movie written and directed by debutants Mohammad Ali and Shafeer Khan. Shine Tom Chacko, Kalhara, Hareesh Perady were in the lead cast. It started to run on the theaters from 30th June and faced the competition with Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum. It could not run more days on the theaters and ended as a big flop.
