Actress Manju Warrier – Profile
Manju Warrier is a famous south indian film actress who predominantly act in Malayalam films. She is a National Film Award winning actress who started her journey in the industry with the movie Sakshyam (1995), directed by Mohan. She left from the industry after the marriage with actor Dileep (1998), later they got divorced (2015) and now she is active in films.
Biography : Manju Warrier was born to a Malayali family in Tamil Nadu. She was from a family with no film backgrounds, her father Mr. Madhavan Nair had worked as a CA in a private financial office while her mother Mrs. Girija Warrier was a homemaker. Manju has a brother Madhu Warrier, who is an actor and producer in Malayalam film industry. Manju did her primary education from a reputed institute near her home in Tamil Nadu. Later her father got a transfer to Kerala and thus she completed her schooling from Chovva HSS, Kannur. Manju completed her degree from S.N. College near Kannur district, Kerala. Manju is a trained classical dancer, she was active in school festivals and she got Kalathilakam award in state youth festival.
She started her acting career with the TV series Moharavam, which was aired in Doordarshan. Which opened her way to limelight. She could conquer the mind of Malayali audience during the small time period, but she left the industry after her marriage with Dileep in 1998. They have a daughter ‘Meenakshi’. Manju and Dileep got divorced in 2015 and now she seems very active in the industry.
Manju made her debut in film industry with the movie Sakshyam, directed by Mohan and which was released in 1995. The film starring Suresh Gopi, Murali, Gowthami, Innocent, Geetha etc. Her performance was excellent and thus she made a good opening with this movie. She got many offers from the industry after the success of her debut movie.
She presented the lead female character in the movie Sallapam (1996), directed by Sundar Das. In which she had shared the screen with Dileep, Manoj K. Jayan, Bindu Panicker, NF Varghese, Mala Aravindan. Dileep – Manju pair made a good chemistry from this movie, later they had gifted many hit films such as Ee Puzhayum Kadannu, Kudamattam etc.
Manju has won ‘National Film Award (1998) – Special Jury Mention’ for her performance in the movie Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu. She also won Kerala State Film Award (1966) for Best Actress for the movie ‘Ee Puzhayum Kadannu‘.
She had worked with almost all leading stars and directors during the small time period. Her performance was excellent and thus she became one of the top order actresses in Mollywood. She had appeared in more than 18 films during this short time – Dilliwala Rajakumaran (1996), Thooval Kottaram (1996), Kaliveedu (1996), Kaliyattam (1997), Aaraam Thampuran (1997), Pranayavarnangal (1998), Daya (1998), Kanmadam (1998), Pathram (1999), Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu (1999) are his other notable works.
She made her comeback to industry with the movie How Old Are You (2014), directed by Rosshan Andrrews. In which she shared the screen with Kunchacko Boban, Kanika, Lalu Alex, Amritha Anil, Sethu Lakshmi, Vinay Forrt etc. It is a female oriented movie and made a big impact at the box office. Manju made a great comeback with this flick.
Later she appeared in the movies Ennum Eppozhum, Rani Padmini, Vettah, Karinkunnam 6s, C/O Saira Banu etc.
Date of birth and age : Manasa was born on 10th September 1978 and she is 38 years old as on 2017.
Education and qualifications: She completed graduation from S.N. College, Kannur.
