Santhy Balachandran is a budding south indian actress who predominantly act in Malayalam films. She started her journey in the industry from the movie Tharangam, directed by Arun Dominic.
Biography : Santhy has been very active in art and extracurricular activities from her childhood. She is a PhD student (Visual Anthropology) at Oxford University. Santhy heard about the audition call of Harnold Pinter’s English play ‘The Lover’ (directed by Sanal Aman) during her vacation time. The crew impressed on her performance in the audition and selected her to present the vital character in the Play.
Director Arun Dominic had noticed her on the play which held in Kochi, actually he was looking for a fresh face for his movie Tharangam. Arun informed her about the role and thus she mailed to the director with some video sequences. Later she participated on the live audition and got selected on the movie to play the female lead character opposite to Tovino Thomas.
Santhy Balachandran made her debut in the industry with the Malayalam movie Tharangam, directed by Arun Dominic. The film features Tovino Thomas, Balu Varghese and Neha Iyer are in the lead roles along with Santhy. She could share the screen space with the few senior actors such as Manoj K Jayan, Vijayaraghavan, Alencier Ley Lopez, Saiju Kurup and Shammy Thilakan.
In which Santhy presented the role of a guest lecturer who is very smart and bold in nature. She handles the female lead role, who is love interest of Tovino’s character. Director Arun explained to her what he needs from the character, which actually helped her to figure out the character. The crew made more comfort to her and thus she could made a warm opening with this movie.
